Low Carbon Lichfield (LoCaL) is a community group based (as the name suggests!) in Lichfield, Staffordshire, England. Composed of a number of enthusiastic volunteers, we have been going since July 2009. Our aim is to encourage the city to progress towards a low carbon, sustainable future. We believe a sustainable lifestyle doesn’t have to mean a joyless and deprived existence, but rather, that it provides opportunities for us all to create healthier lifestyles, strengthen our sense of community, and build a thriving economy based on sound values.
But we would not be true to our aims if we didn’t also try to raise awareness of the issues associated with climate change, which presents a huge challenge to mankind. We have tried to do this at local events such as the FUSE arts festival, Whittington’s Big Green Fair, and some of the Lichfield farmers’ markets; and by screening topical films and hosting talks. If you would like to be kept informed about our events and activities, you can join our mailing list by dropping us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
