Southern Staffordshire Community Energy
Southern Staffordshire Community Energy (SSCE) is a community benefit society, born out of a collaboration between Low Carbon Lichfield and Whittington and Fisherwick Environment Group. In 2011 it had solar PV panels installed on the roofs of two local community buildings using the money raised by a community share issue, and in 2016 worked with University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust to have PV installed on a number of their buildings. ssce.co.uk
Chase Community Solar
In turn, Chase Community Solar was born out of Southern Staffordshire Community Energy and in 2015 fitted PV on the roofs of 314 council-owned bungalows in the Cannock, Rugeley and Hednesford areas, in what was at the time the largest project of its kind. The mostly elderly and/or low-income residents benefit from reduced energy bills or more comfortable homes.
